Widths, weights, washing, and how much cloth a garment actually takes.
Most of our wax print is 45 inches wide. Bogolan runs narrower, usually 40 to 44 inches, because it is woven in strips and sewn. Every listing states its own width.
Six yards is the traditional length and makes a full outfit. Two yards makes a top or a head wrap, four a dress. If you are working to a pattern, follow the pattern's yardage for 45-inch fabric.
Yes. Cloth sold by the yard cuts in half-yard steps, and a half yard is enough to see how something drapes before you commit to six.
Wash wax print cold and separately the first two or three times -- the excess dye lifts off and will find anything white in the same load. Bogolan is hand-stamped with fermented mud and iron; wash it cold by hand and never bleach it.
Cotton shrinks, usually two to three percent on the first wash. If you are sewing to a close fit, wash and dry the cloth before you cut it.

Not unless it is faulty. A cut length cannot be sold on to anyone else. The returns form will tell you which lines on your order are eligible before you post anything.
